This coin represents a groundbreaking achievement in the world of precious metal investments, proudly holding the distinction of being the world’s inaugural legal tender bullion coin to contain 99.99% pure gold.
The Gold Maple Leaf coin’s illustrious journey began in 1979, showing the Royal Canadian Mint’s unwavering commitment to gold production and manufacturing excellence. In the decades that followed, it has become an emblem of gold’s enduring allure. With a remarkable mintage exceeding 37 million pieces since its inaugural year, the Gold Maple Leaf has risen to international acclaim, solidifying its status as one of the globe’s most coveted 24 karat bullion coins.
The coin’s significance extends far beyond its impressive purity and the sheer number of coins in circulation. It proudly bears the hallmark of Canada’s national identity – the iconic maple leaf – rendered with exceptional artistry. This emblematic design graces the coin’s surface, invoking a sense of national pride and adding a touch of artistic beauty to its inherent value. The coin’s exceptional purity is denoted by the “four nines” elegantly inscribed on its lustrous surface, serving as a testament to the Royal Canadian Mint’s unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of quality in every coin it produces.
The obverse depicts King Charles III at 75 years old, facing left, with the design created by Steven Rosati. The coin bears the inscription: “CHARLES III 50 DOLLARS 2024”. Steven Rosati’s initials, ‘SR,’ can be seen on King Charles III’s blazer, just beneath the collar.
The reverse depicts Canada’s national symbol, the Maple Leaf, and above it the text “CANADA”. On each side of the Maple Leaf are four nines visible, underneath the tiny security mark is engraved and likewise the text “FINE GOLD 1OZ OR PUR”, where the latter part of the sentence means “1 ounce of pure gold”.
